One of the strongest wee women you were ever likely to meet....that was my Mammy. She could tell you
a story or two about her life and often did. We lost my Dad when she was in her forties and she was
left with 3 of us to bring up on her own and I think she did a pretty good job.
Mammy has left us and she will be a hard act to follow. There are so many things to say about her
I don't know where to start so I'll do this site a little bit at a time.
I can't get used to her not being with us anymore and that old habit of phoning her every day is a
hard one to break. Maybe a hotline to heaven would do it.
Thanks Nora for all the good times and there were many of them. Your sense of humour was wicked
and we all inherited that from you. Many a time you spoke your mind and got up somebody's nose but
they usually deserved it and truth hurts.
Take me or leave me was her attitude and since she was usually coming from the right direction
with a good heart then she was right to be that way.
All the times she was invited to the pensioners club and refused because they were a shower of
auld gossips. She used to complain about all the auld fogies in toon with their empty bags gettin in
her way. She loved to shop, mainly buying wee things for other people. Loved spoiling you. It didn't
have to be you birthday or anything. Charity begins at home she used to say and she always looked
after her ain.
Robert was her reason for carrying on in life. He was my brother. She cared for him single handed
for 54 years and you could tell they were joined at the hip. Three weeks after she passed away, she
came back for him and now they're together again. I know it was meant to be but it doesn't feel that
fate is fair when you're the ones left behind...I'm sure I speak for the whole family when I say
that.
